textures on imported objects in 3.1

Hello, congrats for the new release, lot of improvements in augmented!

on my sketchup imports, the textures don't appear, and when i change it and put some in augmented, straight from the eos materials library, it just changes the color close to the texture's one, but texture still doesn't appear. any solution to this issue? do we have to built something only in eos to be able to use a texture?

  • thanks for the answer. but when i exported  a dae or fbx from sketchup, the Position  values were in inches, plus a -90 degrees rotation on the X, plus y and z inversed, as i explained there:

xyz positions crazy when importing from sketchup

so i followed ueriliegg advise which was to go straight from skp, to avoid multiple file conversions.

BUT i haven't tried  dae with the eos 3.1. so i'll try and report as i can. Thanks!

  • well, i tried through dae export in 3.1. Many faces became invisible, so may objets partially disappeared. + i still have this conversion in inches regarding Position and Size. BUT indeed i can apply any texture or jpg on any imported object.

  • If the DAE is imported at the wrong size, that simply means the wrong import scale option was selected from the  dropdown in the model import confirmation dialog.

Eos/Augment3d tries to guess at the right choice for the import scale.
It sounds like it's guessed incorrectly in your case, so you'll need to choose a different option for your SketchUp imports.

Unwanted invisible faces means the exporter said they were invisible, and you didn't want it to.
I would expect using "Reverse Faces" and/or applying a non-default material as needed should give you the proper result, though I haven't tried this with SketchUp's DAE export.
