Focusing static fixtures & drape anti-aliasing

Version 3.3.2 PC nomad - offline w/ viz

I'm having a few issues with my A3d model. Firstly, when in the patch screen, I cannot focus static fixtures by clicking on the model. I made a video showing what's happening here: https://youtu.be/Ia-fLzmAfXE. I can't figure out if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm following the youtube guides provided by ETC. It worked in the past but it's not working this year and I don't know why.

Secondly, as seen in this video: https://youtu.be/XSAOeeRrXNg?si=bbjKB2qSc4BSj3JQ the main drape texture has some anti-aliasing issues and you can see right through it. This was the drape texture added via A3d, not vectorworks, though the model and fixtures were built w/ vwx and imported via .dae and .mvr imports. Is there a way to fix this? My computer has decent specs and up-to-date graphics drivers.

Thirdly, there's no gobo textures for Halycon, SolaFrame 1000's and several other ETC fixtures in their profiles.

Thanks!

  • I quickly checked a SolaFrame 1000 and can see gobos:

If you send us your showfile we'll check what's happening. You can email it to eos(dot)moderator(at)etcconnect(dot)com. Please indicate which channels you're looking at.

  • The showfile the venue sent me with the patch has it set as the SolaFrame 1000 high CRI Pan 540 and I don't see gobo's listed in the patch/attributes area.

Same with the Hyperstar Standard Pan 540.

Both are listed as custom profiles and I wonder if it's because I imported from a .acs file? But the Elation Fuze Profiles are normal and I can see their gobos listed in patch.

  • Thank you for your showfile. You are right, that's the problem. You have two possible ways forward:

    1. Patch the library version of those fixtures to dummy channels and check what color, gobo and animation wheels are assigned there and then assign those manually to your patched channels as well.
    2. Change the fixture type for your channels to use the library version.

Method 1 is less fragile but there might be other suprises hiding in those imported fixture profiles. Method 2 will result in working fixture profiles but if you're not careful this might have side effects in your cues, presets and pallets.

Either way, Preserve Native in patch is your friend, you probably want to enable it for when you make the changes. And of course save your showfile before you start.
