Backup system for Time Code - necessary ? ETC Gateways

What were seing is systems with two gateways, one main, one backup. They both get the same SMPTE signal but send their output with different IDs. The console listens to the ID of the main gateway and has a macro that changes the ID to the backup.

So there is a "manual" change of the ID with a Macro? Is this what you described?

Yes, in case of failure the operator has to fire a macro that changes the Source ID of the respective event list in the show control tab.
