EOS Effect Wish/ maybe Offset

As each tower has the same number of LEDs, this is easy.

Adjust the Grouping of the effect and ensure the selection order is correct.

I believe you'll want a Grouping of either 5 or 10 as you've got 5 LEDs each and 10 towers.

Your selection order matters, I forget whether you need to select them up/down each tower or around each level of the ten towers.
- Make a 'real' Group that's got the right selection order to make it easy to do again.

Grouping is how the effect gets spread across the selected channels, and it defaults to 'spread out'.

(I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "wings", I've never heard that term before in relation to Effects.)

There have been several occasions where I wished I could apply a relative effect to a grid of lights (LEDs) that would result in in cocentric rings of color moving in or out via Hue and Sat.  I could then adjust them live with encoders. As each group would have a different number of channels, adjusting the Grouping would not accomplish this.  Therefore, it would be helpful to me if I had the option to apply effects to groups en masse instead of the channels within the groups.  I think this could also help Patrick- especially if he had different numbers of units on his towers.

Is this option being considered?

The effect you describe is built into the effect layer of pixel mapping. Have you spent any time with that feature?

ETC provided an excellent step-by-step tutorial/training guide at CUE on using Pixel mapping that guides you through the philosophy, patching, creating maps, and using the feature. I'm not sure how to get it officially, and don't feel comfortable publishing the CUE document without their permission, but hopefully somebody from ETC will pipe up with an answer.

The document is called "Eos_Family_MediaServerControl_v1.9.8revA.pdf". There may be a newer version.

It's really not that daunting. The steps are:

1. define a virtual media server channel, and one or more media layer channels (in your case one effect layer) in the Patch. No addressing required.
2. defining a pixel map to associate the layout of your pixels with the address of the physical fixtures.
3. start using your new pixel map(s) with the ML control.

Like any technology, there are a couple of gotchas and I-wish-I-would-have-known-that-earlier moments to stumble over. The 2 trickiest areas for me were learning how to use the pixel map editor and understanding the interactions between a pixel map and a channel when the fixture is patched to both. The latter involves a setting called "crossfade", and might be further complicated if the fixture has a "real" intensity attribute.
