Cue stacks and the GM

Is there a way to assign any cue stack OTHER than 1/1 to the master GO button?

Can you assign the master Play Back to a cue list other than Cue List 1?

If yes... how?

(Thank you.)

  • [Cue] 2/ [Enter] [Load] would assign cue list 2 to the master playback.

  • Thank you!

Do you happen to know if there is a way to reassign (or assign different) playback numbers to cue lists?

    -Thank you.

  • I am not sure I know what you mean by the term playback number. I guess it comes from a console I have not used. I also don't know what type of console you have and things like fader controls vary a bit between them.

You might want to thumb through the tutorials and videos here and find the one for your console that describes fader controls, or submaster playback.

In general, you can assign (Load), unassign (Shift+Load) or use the submaster page [Sub][Sub] to move things around.

  • Hey Laura,

Yes you can re/assign playback numbers to cue lists. Let's say you want to assign CueList 2 to Playback 2.

Go to Fader Config in Setup, Assign an empty fader to Playback and in the "Mapped To" soft button, enter 2.

Then go live and type [Cue] [2] [/] [Enter] then hit the both of the buttons on your fader wing on the fader you've just assigned.

Hit [Cue] [Cue] and you'll see that Cue List 2 is now assigned to Playback 2.

    Hope that helps.

Sk8srs Dad, Playbacks have always been a part of the Eos family. The abstraction between Cue Lists and Playbacks exists to allow multiple instances of the same cue list on different faders so you can "playback" the same list at different points in the cue list simultaneously. It also allows you to have the same cue list mapped to the same playback across any number of pages (similarly to how you can have the same submaster mapped to multiple pages). It is a bit convoluted, but it is a feature required for Live events and TV, but hopefully, the dev team can come up with a more user-friendly feature set ;-).

Check out pages 96-97 of the ION 1.7 manual for more info.

  • Chaosbob, I know what a playback is. I did not know what was meant by a playback number and did not want to presume it was a fader.

    Pedantically yours,

  • Except Sk8srs Dad a playback number is not a fader...

Cue Lists are linked to a Playback which has a number (not necessarily the same as the cue list) and a Playback (number) to one or more faders.

Sorry if this is what you meant, but it's worth posting for the sake of others as it's a little complex.

    Example

    Cue 1/ -- Playback 3 -- Fader 2/6 & 4/4

    Cue 2/ -- Playback 1 -- Fader 1/2

  • This is amazing stuff for little old me but the question still remains.... is it possible to change the PAYBACK number that is next to a cue list  (when you hit CUE CUE) so that playback number two isassigned to cue list two on the Ion?

I tried what you said earlier and no-dice. Thank you for all your help!

  • Spark, you need to "Unmap" the cue list from the fader with the undesired playback number. You can do so in Fader Config, or more easily by holding [Shift] and hitting both buttons on the fader.

When you have a cue list mapped to multiple playbacks only the first playback number (chronologically, not numerically) is shown in the Playback column. It's a bit unclear...

If that still isn't doing the trick for you post back here and we'll get you sorted out.
