Sub levels are up when console turns on

I haven't figured out why this occurs but when I power up the Ion console, One particular sub level is a 100% with all faders at Zero.

This is Sub 1 that has been recorded as a normal fader HTP. Before powering down the console, all faders are at zero and Go to Cue "Out" has been executed. Nothing is being Outputted. Console is then shut down.

Additionally, I wanted to mention that the Wing does not shut down with the console. It stays powered up with the Ion Logo displayed. Shouldn't it shut off along with the console?

I'm running an ION with version 1.9.12 with a 2 x 20 Fader wing.

Thank you for any thoughts,

Julian

  • Hello All,

Thanks for the replies. I have attempted all suggestions and haven't been able to solve the problem (I thought the Deep Clear would do the trick but not so).

I noticed that it didn't matter which Fader I assigned to Sub 1. It still returns to being Full when the Board gets turned on with the Fader at 0%. I decided to delete Sub 1 from the Sub List Display. The problem went away. However, when I create a new Sub 1 from scratch, the same problem occurs (even if I have no levels recorded in Sub 1). The Sub has the same attributes as many other Subs but it's the only one that has this reaction. I have copied Sub 1 to Sub 99, loaded both into different faders and still only Sub 1 is overriding the fader.

I also noticed that if I have Sub 1 not assigned to any faders, it still goes to Full in the Submaster Display.

    I'm definitely stumped.

As far as the wing, I understand now why it doesn't power down. I'm just surprised that there is no shutoff command thru USB when using a separated power supply.

    Thanks again for any help.

  • Baffled by something.  If you have no channels recorded at a level in Sub 1, how do you know Sub 1 is outputting ?.  Are you seeing a channel level in yellow ?.

If you have levels for channels in yellow, do an About and list that/those channel(s) to determine what sub(s) they are recorded into.

Possibly it's not Sub 1 that is driving levels ?.

As well, go into Setup - Show - Show Setup - Fader Configurations to to see if a sub with those channels is mapped to a virtual fader, that is maybe on in a different page ?.  It is possible to have a sub mapped to more then one fader, as BTW.

In theory, doing a Delete - Sub - 1 thru 300 should clear all, with 300 being the maximum amount of subs the console supports.

  • Steve,

When I have no channels recorded to Sub 1 (basically an empty Sub), there is no output and no yellow tiles. However, when I look at the Submasters Display, I notice that in the % column the Level for Sub 1 is at 100%.

This only happens at Startup. It remains that way until I manually manipulate the level.

I have also checked to see if the Sub has been mapped to a Virtual Fader and it is not. I checked all 30 pages.

The other interesting thing is after deleting Sub 1, I type [Sub] [1] [Enter] to create a new one and the Sub % is at 100. Once I type [Sub][1][@][Out], it operates normal until I restart the console.

There is a ghost in the machine.

  • Julian,

Does this happen with one showfile only, or with any showfile?

What happens if you do a File>New then record a new Sub 1. Do you get the same behavior?

If it is related to a specific showfile could you attach the file here?

    Thanks

    Graham

  • Sounds like a Startup Macro is telling Sub 1 to go to full. That would result in everything you are seeing.
