Questions, Problems

I am working on a live show with the EOS for new years and came accross a few things that might interest you.

I found the Atomic 3K four channel profile does not work correctly. The fouth channel doesn't seem to go to full so I could not access all the programmed effects however, I created a new profile and was able to get it to work correctly.  I also found the attribute labled shutter speed to be confusing.  Should it not be Rate?

It would be really cool if Presets would inclued effects.  When I make a look that would include some moving lights running effects and record it to a presets the preset would leave out the effect information.

The Freeze button to pause all effects running on a playback is sweet, but it could be even better if it included gobo rotate and shutter on movers.

Lastly I did have a glitch problem with effects.  When I went to effects in blind and hit next, the next effect would come up but if I hit back, it would jump to 917 no matter where I was. I didn't get a chance to check but I think a reboot might fix this problem.  I will find out tonight.

 Thanks

Doug

  • Hi Doug.

Will take a look at the Atomic 3K profile.

Presets including effects is on our list of things to add sometime this year.

The freeze function is to freeze the output of the desk.  The rotation of the gobo (for example) is actually a luminaire function.   Freezing the gobo rotation actually changes the output from Eos, rather than freezing the output from Eos.   May seem like its picking a nit, but.....

Did you have a chance to see if you were still having a problem with effects in Blind?    If you are, can you please email the show file to eos@etcconnect.com?  We can take a look to see what's what?

     Thanks Doug!

  • I still had the same problem with the effects list in blind but if I rest the console it would work properly for a while then do it again after more programming.  Funny thing is it would always go to 917.  I could not figure out exactly when or what I did to cause it.

As far as profiles are concerned.  I found a problem with the profile for the Clay Paky 1200 wash.  What is the best way to handle these problems when I find them.  Should I just build my own profiles for the light or should I report them to someone so they can fix the problem and send me an update so I don't have a bunch of built profiles on the console.  This week will be checking the profiles for the Clay Paky profile 1200, Clay Paky 575 spot HPE, the VL500, and the syncro 3k this next week.  I also could not use the Color Kinetics color blaze profile because it would only look at it as a 12 channel unit but not let me have independant control of the channels.  I ended up using the power core 12 profile, one per each section of the color blaze.

  • Doug, that's what I'm doing with this Pixelline fixture I have.  It's actually 20 channels but the profile just has it as one fixture.  So, I made a custom profile that just has the four channels (RGB and Amber) and patched it 5 times for each fixture.
