Windows 8 dogglr issue?

tonight i tried to use my PC laptop to run a focus call . . I got it to connect to the Ion (although the network says "limited" under connection) and can watch the console in mirror mode .. but when I step out of mirror mode I can't do anything .. numbers don't even display when I type them in. .

is there a way to tell if the EOS shell is reading the dongle . . . is there a way to tell if the dongle is still valid? (will my dongle work with my new console - I didn't get a new dongle with the new console)

am I missing something?

  • When Windows says that a network has "limited connectivity" that just means it can't see the internet.  Microsoft assumes that networks are only useful if they connect to the internet, so it automatically tests for that when you connect to a new network (by trying to talk to one of their servers).  If you can see the console in mirror mode, then your network is probably set up correctly.

I'd agree with Luke that it sounds like the client software isn't seeing the dongle.  Giving phone support a call when you're in front of the gear is probably going to be the best way to troubleshoot that.
