Customize Direct Select Layout on Ion

I have version 1.9. The direct select layout seems like it is not very well laid out. There is a lot of wasted space, particularly when shown above the CIA. Is there any way to zoom the window, change the button sizes, or use more of the touchscreen real estate?

  • Upgrade.to 2.0 and get your choice of Flexi direct selects or magic sheets that let you paint your own layout.

  • I have upgraded to 2.0. The Direct Select layout is not much improved at all on 4:3 monitors. It is still two columns of 5 tiles, with a lot of wasted space. (On the mac it looks better; 3 columns in groups of 5 buttons). Kind of disappointed with this.

I'm sure I can do magic sheets; however, this seems more time consuming to manage simple selects vs. direct selects.

Do they make widescreen touch monitors?

I would vote to make the Direct Select page zoomable, like the cue list display is. Alternately, make the buttons 30% smaller and narrow all the gaps. The buttons are a bit oversized for 19" touch monitors.

Here is how it looks on a touchscreen monitor:

  • Moving to Magic Sheets instead of DS's will give give a lot more control of what's displayed and where.

I've take to calling it the "Direct Select Replacement Page" instead of Magic Sheet, as that's what it really is.

The screen shot shows a single monitor setup for 6 MAC700's, a Group for all, color selectors, focus palettes, beam palettes, some macro's for strobe, presets for image size and focus.etc...

When we loaded to the desk the programmer expanded this greatly.

Much more flexible, especially when you snapshot, maybe having some DS's on other snapshots, etc....

  • Yes, ELO makes a 22" wide monitor that is multi touch. We have 2 of them and they are very nice. Cheaper than the regular touch screens too. Think the model is ELO 2201.
