Thanks Dave,
But I have tried that, and the problem is I just want to select the channels, I don't want to put them in their preset levels.
Yeah I've tried that too, thanks Idelwich.
I'm beginning to think this function doesn't work yet.
Group Preset xx Enter should only select the channels, I will double check this on Monday.
Group Preset xx Enter will select the channels associated with that Preset--It will also put those channels into their recorded IFCB value.
Group Preset xx At 0 Enter will select the channels and only assign the channels a value of zero. It will not put the channels attached to the specified preset into the recorded IFCB state.

Thx Josh,
But I should have been more specific...
I am trying to SELECT only, not modify the values of the channels captured in the preset. Eg: My designer wants me to grab all the fixtures in Preset 20 and raise their levels 10%, or change their colors to frame 1, etc...
The way I read the manual, Query should do what I want. But it doesn't.
Mike,
I was doing this all day today.
Push Query then look at the softkeys, Push softkey "Can Be" (bottom right of right screen) and then the Preset/Pallete and then Enter. This will select any channels that are recorded into that Preset/Pallete and Select them ONLY, no values.
If you want to grab everything that is onstage in a specific Preset/Palette, then Push Query and then the Preset/palette and then enter. Again, only those channels will be selected, no values will turn to Manual.
Oops, sorry. I got caught out on this today again. {Is In} refers to state (if it's in that palette currently, it meets the criteria). {Can Be} means that it is recorded in that palette (can be put into that palette).
My bad.

There has been a lot of confusion about how group works, how recall from works and how query works. We are tweaking this somewhat in 1.3.1 (due late this month) to try to give you all of the options we can find. So, the rule set will be completely consistent (which is sorta kinda is now, but there is a hole or two to plug.....)
Group is only a channel selector. So. [Group] [Color Palette] [1] [Enter] - will select all channels that have data stored in color palette 1 (that'll be a fun one when we introduce global palettes.... well, we will cross that bridge when we cross it). More importantly.... [Group] [Cue] [3] [Enter] - selects all channels that are "in" cue 3. What does it mean to be "in" cue 3? If a channel is active, or if it has a move instruction, it is considered to be "in" cue 3. Inactive channels and channels with all tracked values are not included in this selection. [Group] [Cue] [3] [at] [Full] [Enter] - would set all channels "in" cue 3 to full. One exception .... [Group] [Effect] [1] [Enter] - recalls a step based effect - or you could use:
[Recall From] [Effect] [1] [Enter]
[Recall From] [Cue] [1] [Enter] - puts cue 1 on stage, as manual values.
[Recall From] [Cue] [1] [at] ]50] [Enter] - puts cue 1 on stage, with all intensities recalled at 50% of their recorded values.
When you do a query, the default condition is "Is In". "Is In" means that the channel is currently in that state ("is in CP5"). "Could Be" means that it has data stored ("Could Be" CP5 means that the channel has stored information in CP5. "Can't Be" means that it doesn't have data stored in the specified target. "Isn't In" means that it isn't currently in that condition.
Note that Query now includes "Moves Only" -- because tracked data is normally included as a function of a query. Note that you can also [Query] [modifiers.....] [Mark] [Enter[ - will select fixtures that are in a marked state. You can append a [Time] - to select those fixtures with discrete time.
Does this help at all?

Wouldn’t it be extremely
handy if one could use the already existing groups when adding info into the
Query-sensitive text-boxes in the patch database?
t.
In the next release, you are able to use groups to select and edit channels in patch. This works with all channel syntaxes in patch. Also, when you are setting the Query keywords in patch (text1, text2, text3, text4), buttons will appear for any keyword you have already used so that you don't have to re-type it every time.
