aRFR app not working

Hi,

I have the full version of the aRFR android app and was trying to connect to work's GIO yesterday but couldn't get it to connect. I have typed in all the details correctly and set up the desk, but when I go to the 'home screen' of the app and choose the console ready to connect, the 'connect' button is greyed out. I am definatly connected to the wireless router the desk is plugged into but the 'connect' button on the app is constantly greyed out.

Someone else on the team is using the iRFR app with no problems, any suggestions?

Thanks, Tom.

  • Do you think that you could please be more specific?

We want the IP of the iPhone to be in the same range as the console, but not 100% identical.  If they are exactly the same then the device tries to talk to itself rather than to another device.  In addition to IP we need to be aware of Subnet Mask on both items, as this will denote how much of the IP address needs to match for the devices to recognize that they are on the same network.  A Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.0 on both devices should be sufficient, and allow it to match the first two sets of numbers in the IP address.

Of course the IP address of the console is the IP that should be entered into the aRFR application itself in the console setup menu.

  • Ok, just so that you are aware I know very little about networking and IP's etc. This is how The iPhone is set up with the iRFR app: Console settings on app: IP: 10.101.91.101 Password: (the password for the desk) How the network for the iPhone is set up: Name: ETC WIRELESS. Static IP: 10.101.125.101 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0.

The settings for the android device using aRFR settings are as follows: aRFR app: IP: 10.101.91.101 Password: (Console's password which is identical to the iPhone's.) Network settings:- Connected to ETC WIRELESS using static IP: 10.101.125.10.  I cannot enter a subnet mask on my Samsung galaxy s4 for whatever reason. Is this the problem?

This is all the info I can give you for now, if you need anything else, let me know and I can tell you as best I can.

Thanks for your help as always guys.

  • Hi Tom,

Some Android devices ask for a 'network prefix length' not a subnet so if this is set at 24 the it is the same as 255.255.255.0

I think you will want to change this too 16 which is the same as 255.255.0.0 then you might get a connection.

    Tom
