Channels jump out of view

At some actions (i am not sure which, but for sure sometimes it is [UPDATE]) my channel screen jumps to the line with the highest channel number.

Also if there are only two lines with channels (Flexi Patched) it puts the last line with channels on the top line of the screen so I cannot see my first channels anymore.

I guessed scroll lock would prevent this, but unfortunately this doesn't work.

  • ScrollLock on the facepanel will change the behaviour of the Up and Down Arrow keys and not of the displays

i think the rule for bringing channels on screen is that the lowest channel number in the command line will pull focus.

  • I understand this is how the console functions at the moment. It is quite unnecessary though that channels disappear from view even though there is plenty of space on the display.

Why I mentioned the scroll lock key, is because that was my first guess in how to solve the problem. A quick look in the manual learned me I was wrong.

I think it could be useful for software developers to learn about the first intuition normal users have in solving a certain problem..

hm, i take it, you're not in Flexi Selected, right? so when you select channel 1 and select channel 999, how would you expect seeing those two channels on the same screen? (assuming you're in a flexi mode, that shows channels 2 through 998)... should the desk zoom out, so it can display all the channels at the same time? should it change the flexi mode to Selected? or do you want the selected channels to be grouped out of order at the top of the screen (1,999,2,3,4,...)?

not trying to provoke, seriously interested

  • I'm sure the feedback is welcome by the design team. Intuitiveness  is  based on what we already know, our foundation for fitting a new concept into our view of the world. Since we all have a unique history, what is intuitive to me may not be intuitive to you, and vice versa.

There are three I's in intuitive and only one U (you). 'nuff said.

I am in Flexi Patched. Even with only 40 channels patched, 20 channels each line on the display, the first 20 channels sometimes disappear. Then I need to scroll up to see them again.

On some other desks you can change this behavior in setup.

  • What software version are you running?

    Thanks,
