i need to learn to control the gio in days, please help

Hej, I m sorry to ask questions the 15th time, but unfortunatly, I don't have time. At work is no Inet connection, so I have to ask, before I get to sleep at hotel. I have to learn the Gio in a few days, because there is no Gio at the venue yet. I'm sorry, but in my case is the search function is not the best way. so I have a little catalogue of questions and I m very thankful for everybody who helps me.

At the moment I work with the "Transtechnik Focus NT", so I would be very thankful for helping me with the conversion. Here are my questions:

1) "L" "Cue X": Loading Cue without time! On Gio possible?

2) "GO" "Cue X": Load "Cue X" in programmed time and load next cue for shooting it! On Gio possible?

3) "Cue X" "HRT": Load "Cue X" without time and load next cue for shooting it! On Gio possible?

4) When I work in the Blind Sheet, can I play cuelists parallel, like I m in Live Mode?

5) Is there something similar to the Transtechnik "Single choice" and "Group choice"? Means (single:     "1""enter""2""enter" 2 is selected) (group: "1""enter""2""enter" 1 AND 2 are selected)

6) Several curcuits have itensities, I m in a cue. I want to pick one channel, and kill the rest, so I can better see it. When it s focussed, I want to go back to the cue. In Transtechnik language would it be: " "Curcuit X" UEB ISO"

7) Same Scene like above, but Itensities dont come from a cue, but from several Submasters. But I want to check one of it. So I have to kill the rest. In Transtechnik language would it be: "GRP X UEB Solo"

8) When I change a intensity in a live cuelist manual and it moves red and I go to the next cue, how do the intensities behave? Change like next cue, or stay like manual control?

Many thanks to everybody, how wants to help!!!

  • 1: see No. 3
    2: GotoCue x Time Enter
3: GotoCue x Time 0 Enter (or you go to Setup and change the default GotoCue time to 0, then you can do GotoCue x Enter
4: yes. only two places where you can't press go (i think): Fader Config tool in Setup is open, and if you are saving the showfile and the onscreen keyboard is open.
    5: no
6: x Highlight Enter. to have the same behaviour like NT (the highlighted fixture leaves the color untouched) you will have to use a Highlight Preset. i suggest reading this up in the manual. same for the Lowlight Preset, for Highlight Enter, for RemDim Enter and for Highlight RemDim Enter
7: i don't think you can check the Sub as such, but you could use what you know as BSW: Group Sub x Highlight Enter and then use Next and Last to navigate through the Selected channels
8: they will move if there is a MoveInstruction in the next cue, unless you keep the red channels selected or use Capture (and don't think that just because you're in CueOnly mode that there is always a MoveInstruction ;) ).

  • Down load the off line editor to get a feel for the board architecture.

Eos Family Off-line/Client Software v2.0.1 for PC (Eos Ti, Eos, Gio, Ion, Element, RPUs and RVIs)

There are also many training videos on the website.  EOS, GIO and Ion are very similar.

  • Hej, many thanks this far. I m very thankful and glad to be the first one, who found a forum, where you not get tortured, if you ask a question a second time.

Many, many thanks, you saved my butt.

  • you're very welcome. and on a personal note: i never had the feeling that people in this forum get tortured for asking a second or third time.

  • Agreed! ALSO ETC support line is excellent! I've called them 20 minutes before a show on a Sunday night because of some foolish thing I did; they got right back with me,very knowledgeable and got me back up with a couple of key strokes. Between now and then get the editor and start calling tech support with your questions. You'll find the Eos family is superb as is ETC. Good luck

  • But if you have the ability to wait till normal business hours, do so.

If memory serves, after hours the call goes to one of the on-call support people, who are typically at home or such, available to answer a call, but then they need to put the beer down, put the barbecue on low so as not to overcook the hamburgers, power up the laptop and call you back.

PITA when it's a call for something that's in the manual.

I save those for Mon - Fri, 9-5 Central.  Usually 2 a week.
