Designer Playback Lockout Feature

I wanted to know if there is a way a designer can be a second user (so they can change screens independently), but be locked out from being able to run cues, record, update?  I know you could remove the keyboard at the designer desk, but some have their own custom keyboard to move around the system (which means they do what they want).

  • Not able to check right now, but couldn't you partition them to no channels? Then when they do try to do something they cannot control anything.

  • Sadly partition does not help, and if you type a channel, the system will ask if you want to take control of this channel.   I had a long talk with the LD for the opera today.  What we would really like is a mirror style mode (where monitor sizes (wide or square) does not have to be the same between each of us) (In mirror mode they need to be). Plus have it so the designer cannot make changes, run cues, delete, but can have independent control of his screen layouts.

In mirror mode, if the LD changes his screen or zooms in, it affects me in the booth.  If you set the system up as second user for the LD, they now can control their own screens (which is good), but the LD can still make changes, run cues and record.  However, they cannot see your command line, so you have to build one for them on a magic sheet.  Lastly, most LDs like it when you enter a channel, the the screen jumps to the right channel page automatically to show level.  This does not happen set up as a second user.

I really cannot come up the an ideal solution, so hope the gods of programming maybe could come up with something for the future.  I would love a LD mode where they:

Can control their own screens (with own resolutions), page up and down/zoom independently, see my command line, if in live channel screen see the correct page based on what the programmer is typing, but are locked out from making show changes (record, delete, etc...)

I know this is a tall order, but I just have to ask :-)
