Mark Time

Dear All

I was wondering if there had been a discussion about 'mark time'. I realise that tihs take the cue time and you could alter the FCB timings to alter the mark time but if you have live tracking moves this is not always possible. is there any way or could we look at being able to set an independent mark time not affected by the cue timings?

thanks

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

in the moment there is no way to set an individually mark time by cue or channel or attribute, hope that will be possible in future. But you can set a generally automark time in setup, which is very helpfully.

  • Thanks sstaub but as I pointed out in my post I am aware of the current methods of using a mark but was hoping for a more general discussion about development of mark time.

  • I'm aware that there will be a change regarding mark time. Right now it follows the timing of cue part 1, but at some point in the future it will follow the timing of the part containing the marking parameters.

  • You can put a mark on a different part and the time will come from the part with the mark on it. I do this all the time using Part 20.

We did have a discussion a while back about adding a cue level mark time and I think that is still on the radar.

    Cheers

    Dan

  • Ah sorry, what I said is regarding automark.

  • With Auto Mark enabled, it will always use the FCB times from part 1 of the Mark cue.  However, you can override these with discrete timing for whatever attributes/channels you like.  The catch is, you must apply and modify the discrete timing in the Reference cue, not the Mark cue.

It's not as graceful as you're asking for, but it is a workaround.

    Cheers,

  • Really what I was hoping was that as we can set a default time for Mark in the same way as we can with Fade time and sneak time etc. I was rather hoping to open a discussion rather than ask for advice and that someone from ETC might  contribute as to how feasible it might be and whether it could be added to the wish list of future modifications to the software.

Thanks for all contributions and advice and perhaps I might repost it somewhere it might get some reponse from developers.

  • Hey Paul,

As suggested by Dan, marking on a Part is typically the way a couple of us set up our marking to allow greater control of mark timing. I've even got a macro that will make the marking part, label the marking part and put my chosen times on that marking part. Something like that might help for you? There have been discussions in the past about creating a dedicated marking part on the cue when you apply the mark to cue. This i would presume would take a time that could be set up in the setup window.

I'm sure its somewhere on the list...

  • Hey Paul,

Sorry for any frustration--Currently there is an option in Show Settings for Mark Time. This would assume any channel that is marking would use this time, with discrete time being the override. Are you looking for something more than this??

  • Yes what I want is to be able to set a mark time as I can currently set a sneak time etc. as a default or on a cue to cue basis. Discreet timing is too slow and fiddly as it has to be set for each light and atttribute every time you want to move a single attribute and on every light that you require. too slow and too fiddly and not readable on the output screen in tombstone except as a small letter in one corner. if it can be set as a default or on a cue to cue basis much more useful and speedy and powerful. Thanks
