How to take Advantage of what I have got.

Hi all, let me introduce myself. I am the Lighting Master at my High school. I am supposed to know everything about lighting and I plan to specialize in the field.

When I earned my title after learning some stuff through the grape vine I still have a void in knowledge when it comes to lighting.

My dept. has an ETC ION and Express

We have 3 Sensor Racks and one Colortran rack. as well as sACN/Net3/Net2 gateways

We have a massive supply of S4 and CYC lights

With the ION we have the RFU

the basics of patching lights and such I know. but How can I take advantage of some of things I have like net2 2-port gateways.

P.S. I told one of my gateways to update software and now it has said "Downloading from [Insert IP Address] and it has said that for the past 3 days.... and I can't control DMX through it anymore.

First of all, the wiki has some useful articles (http://community.etcconnect.com/wikis/products/eos-family.aspx) and tutorials (http://www.etcconnect.com/product.tutorial.aspx?ID=20351) regarding EOS usage.

Regarding your node, I'm assuming that you started the update from the front panel? What is happening is it's looking for the predefined (normally 10.101.1.101) update server. I would assume you don't have one setup in a small venue.

So, restart your node (there should be a little recessed button). To update the best way to do this would be to download UpdaterAtor (http://www.etcconnect.com/docs/docs_downloads/console/ETC_UpdaterAtor_4.0.0.9.0.9.zip) onto a laptop you can connect to your lighting network.

If all the IPs (on your desk, nodes, etc) are standard net3 then set your laptop ip to 10.101.101/255.255.0.0.
