How to create a virtual device?

Hello friends,

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a question about how to create a virtual device to control my conventional Cyc floods. I will like to create a virtual device channel to control all my conventional cyc floods (patch by dimmer), so I can use the color picker with it, and store colour palettes. It would be something like a RGB LED but it has to be able to accept patching of the different cyc floods (the floods don´t have consecutive address numbers).

Also, Is there a way to create colour palettes automatically when you create a scroll roll? Can you pass all the color information quickly onto colour palettes?

Thanks for your help.

  • 1. Patch a dummy channel as Generic | LED RGB | 8B (only patching this so that you have it in your list of Favorites

    2. Copy the fixture three times, renaming the copies "Red+HS", "Green+HS", "Blue+HS"

    3. Edit each fixture to assign each colour as appropriate to DMX 1. Set the others to DMX 0 so that they are still in the fixture but without an address offset - and therefore still create Hue/Sat

    4. Patch a channel with part 1 as type Red+HS, part 2 as Green+HS, part 3 as Blue+HS. Patch each part to an address as needed.

    5. Go to Live, the Color Picker now works!
