Ion Cue stack issues

I am having a problem with cue stacks that is pretty severely impacting on a daily basis sense upgrading to the latest patch.  If I have a cue stack with say a stack of colors (for moving head or RGB LED's) I can tab through them fine, however when I get to the last cue and I link back to the first cue it does not change.  Once I hit go one more time to the second cue it will move as long as I am going forward.

I tried this several times and had the same problem with focus positions in a stack as well.  If I am in a cue and I hit GO TO CUE 6/5 (or whatever it might be) I still have the problem whether the cue is in front of or behind where I am in the cue stack.

After doing some testing it seems like this is only happening when I have a sub with intensity up.  If there is no sub then the cue stacks work as they should.  Has anyone else had this problem at all?  It is really screwing with our shows!

Help!

  • Hi there,

This is an issue that was recently discovered in 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 -- a cue list with non-intensity moves but no intensity recorded will not fade its moves under some circumstances (pressing Back, doing Go to Cue, or doing a link to another cue). There will be a fix in the next version of software (v2.2.0). The workaround would be to record a slight intensity on the channels in your color-only cue lists (01% will do). This was new in 2.1.0 -- version 2.0.1 didn't exhibit the issue. A downgrade would also be possible to do -- I can provide instructions on how to do that if you'd like.

    Very sorry for the issues!

  • Gotcha.  This is kind of a debilitating bug for us.  We have already programmed and relying quite heavily on tap rate functions(love them) but this other issue is big too.  because of the busking environment we are in it is not really an option to put intensity is these cue stacks as we need to run multiple effect subs at the same time and intensity in FX subs cannot take priority over intensity in a cue.

What is the ETA on the fix?

    Thanks!

  • Would it help to create and add phantom channels to the show until the software issue is fixed?  Patching a single dimmer channel way outside your current channels, and adding intensity for it to all those cues?  Once the problem is solved, just delete the channel(s) from the show.

  • The issue happens on a channel by channel basis, so adding an extra channel wouldn't help, unfortunately. You would need to assign a small intensity level to every channel with non-intensity parameters.

    More soon.

I just ran into this last weekend (due to a last minute change to take cues out of order).  I wondered why it happened.  Now I know why.
