Using EOS NOMAD dongle as Backup Console

I have a question about the new upcoming NOMAD dongle for EOS. I understand that the NOMAD 256 dongle only gives me a 1/2 universe if I use my laptop as the primary console, but what about using my laptop as a backup console to an ION assigned as the primary? Will having a backup console with only 256 outputs restrict the outputs of the primary too?

It's crunch time for me since the Client Kit will be discontinuing soon and the 256 output restriction makes the NOMAD unusable as a portable in-the-house editor.

Thanks!

  • Just a clarification... your current Eos client dongle will work just as is as a Nomad 256.    When Nomad begins shipping (June), it will be available in 256, 1024, 1536 and 2048 outputs.  You will be able to upgrade a Nomad 256 to higher output counts at a later date.  It is worth noting that the current client dongle will not be able to be upgraded to 1024 and higher.

    Hope that helps.
