Definitive answer on Ion Touchscreens

Hi All,

I'm in the process of purchasing an Ion, however I'm receiving conflicting information on the touchscreen model. Both Jeremy and the ETC Knowledgebase spec an ELO 1915L. My dealer however has specced an ELO 1928L, and tell me this is the model ETC have advised.

As far as I can tell (and I've called the UK distributor to confirm) the 1915L has no DVI input; only VGA. Doesn't this make it unsuitable for the Ion? It's also a special order item with limited availability; I was quoted 3-5 weeks.

Rather confused, so some clarification would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

John

  • The word I received last Friday from ETC support was:

At this time, we do not officially support any touchscreens other than
    the ELO screens listed below:

    ELO1715L 17" touchscreen monitor (E537168)
    ELO1915L 19" touchscreen monitor (E607608)

That being said, the helpful folks at ETC supplied some information I needed in order to install unsupported drivers for GVision P17BH monitors on our Ion.

  • Someone please tell me if I have surmised this correctly.

I have a very nice 17" VGA flat panel monitor with my Express console.  I want to use this monitor with my new Ion console.  This monitor will opbviously plug into the single VGA port.  I also want a 19" touchscreen monitor.  This would have to plug into the DVI port and therefore need to be the ELO 1928L E874209.

Could I inversely purchase the ELO1915L 19" E607608 (wich is VGA and much cheaper) and use that in the VGA port and purchase an affordable DVI monitor for the DVI output?

  • When using two different monitors, VGA and DVI, please keep in mind that monitor #1 will always be on the right side. You can use the [swap] key to swap ION screens between the monitors, but monitor #1 needs to be on the physical right, so your mouse tracks correctly. To set up either monitor as #1, I quote:

    http://community.etcconnect.com/forums/post/4719.aspx

"You may use 1 VGA and 1 DVI monitor. The above configuration is correct, the VGA goes into the blue VGA connector, while the DVI goes into the the DVI 'Y' cable. To set the VGA monitor as #1 - connect the DVI monitor to '2' on the 'Y' cable.  To set the VGA monitor as #2, connect the DVI to '1' of the 'Y' cable. But in all cases, monitor 1 will always be on the right."

  • We've just received a Elo touchscreen for our Ion. We bought model E874209 based on advice in this thread - do we need to do any specific for Ion to recognise it as a touchscreen? At the moment it is plugged into DVI output 1, and displays output from Ion OK, but the touchscreen part of it doesn't work.

Shell | Settings | General | Calibrate Elo Touchscreen produces Windows dialogue: "No Elo touchscreen found. Install a touchscreen and then run calibration program." How do I do that?

    Thanks,
    David
