Definitive answer on Ion Touchscreens

Hi All,

I'm in the process of purchasing an Ion, however I'm receiving conflicting information on the touchscreen model. Both Jeremy and the ETC Knowledgebase spec an ELO 1915L. My dealer however has specced an ELO 1928L, and tell me this is the model ETC have advised.

As far as I can tell (and I've called the UK distributor to confirm) the 1915L has no DVI input; only VGA. Doesn't this make it unsuitable for the Ion? It's also a special order item with limited availability; I was quoted 3-5 weeks.

Rather confused, so some clarification would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

John

  • If you are launching the vendor's configuration application from that link, it would be nice to provide a mechanism like a registry entry or configuration setting for hooking the button within the maintenance shell to other vendors' utilities rather than having to drop back to the operating system to run a different calibration routine.
  • Hi Chris

Is there anyplan to update the touchscreen driver in Ion from 4.2.0.0 or is there any reason that i shouldn't? I have a screen that will not calibrate using  the standard 3 target mode but will using enhanced mode (25 big targets + 4 small).

  • Hi Adam,

Yes, in fact, all consoles shipping soon with the new 1.4 release will have Elo Touch Screen drivers version 4.7.0.0.  I don't see a reason why you couldn't update the drivers on your existing console.  If you are unsure about how to do this, just send an email to ion@etcconnect.com and I'll reply with instructions :)
