Color Effect Problems

I've been having the same problem with color effects not playing back cleanly. If you remember in January I pointed out a jump in Focus effects where the light would "studder" in between movements of a sine wave. Well something odd is still happening on color effects. If you make an absolute effect and fill it with 6 steps referencing 6 color presets (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple) and change no other options, then apply it to some fixtures, it plays back smoothly until it "loops" from Purple to Red where you get a small blip of odd color. You don't have to just do this with 6 colors, doing it with 3 will produce the same effect. Setting Trail to something other than default will really show the problem. Running 1.3.1

  • Hi Jason, can you me your show file and I will take a look. I'm not seeing it here, but I didn't try very hard.
  • Do you have any fixtures connected to the console? I don't think you can tell from just watching the data. LED's are the biggest offender. Just creating a three step absolute effect using color presets on some VL wash lights I saw it too. I had an effect with Orange, Red and Yellow, or something to that effect. When I played it back the lights would quickly blip into blue when the effect looped. The effects I mentioned to have problems with are not in my show file because I couldn't use them. I had to figure out how to do them some way else. Is there some weird Hue/Saturation thing happening? When I created a Blue Palette for example, I mixed the colors for the VL's using CYM controls. When I created colors for the LED's in that same Palette, I used Hue/Saturation controls.
  • I have run into this same problem, the effect seems to running itself in some sort of Hue-Sat mode. It happens with just 2 steps on the effect. Example CP1=Congo CP2= Open, if I run these together the Color change will go through green instead of White to blue. I have tried recording the CP as hue/sat and CMY and get the same result.
