Color Effect Problems

I've been having the same problem with color effects not playing back cleanly. If you remember in January I pointed out a jump in Focus effects where the light would "studder" in between movements of a sine wave. Well something odd is still happening on color effects. If you make an absolute effect and fill it with 6 steps referencing 6 color presets (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple) and change no other options, then apply it to some fixtures, it plays back smoothly until it "loops" from Purple to Red where you get a small blip of odd color. You don't have to just do this with 6 colors, doing it with 3 will produce the same effect. Setting Trail to something other than default will really show the problem. Running 1.3.1

  • Just running it on RGB or CMY work should. The problem is that if the effect includes HS, it fades through HS space and it is not taking the shortest path on the Hue value (fading through 360 to 0). If you open the color picker and select one of the channels, it's easy to see that it's not taking the shortest path. This is a defect, and will be fixed.
