Help with black outs please

When I have a spot where people have to do something in the dark, I would typically make this two separately called cues because (unless your actors are remarkably consistent) it's hard to know exactly how much time to give them. The first cue is a blackout and the next cue is the following scene.

If you want the second cue to happen automatically you can use a follow [shift+delay] time. Just keep in mind that the follow timer starts when you press go on the first cue, so if the cue's fadetime is 5s and you want a 3s blackout in between, then the follow time should be 8s.

One brief tip.
Be sure to BLOCK and ASSERT the blackout cues. That will save much trouble with editing under tracking.

on an element Block is the combined function that is separated into Assert and Block on the other Eos-Family consoles. but i agree with richard, you want to Block your blackout cues.

Is there a document detailing these fine points? I saw one years ago but much has changed.
