Alpha Spot 700 on IOn

Question

I've got 3 Alpha Spot 700's running from an Ion. Whatever combination of desk fixture profile setting and actual fixture setting I try I cannot get them to work. The best I can get is the Pan encoder on the desk making the fixture tilt (the Tilt encoder doing nothing). This at least proves that here is some comunication between the desk and the unit. Is there something really obvious I may have missed. Teching 9:30 Saturday morning. Any suggestions gratefully received. ( I'm not totally inexperienced at this, I've got a rig of K10's, Robin 600's and LED PARs running quite happily, but I just cant get the 700's to play ball).

I've been looking at the online manual. I don't have access to the fixtures at the moment. I've noticed the "Universe" setting. Do the fixtures have to be assigned to a particular DMX universe (In this case 1), or am I mis understanding this feature.

Its sound like the units have Vectors enabled and the patch doesn't. Basically Vectors are timing channels which fit at the end of the control line so if you have the next fixture starting at that address depending what the second fixture is doing will slow down the first one. 
To fix it turn off vectors on the units!

Sounds like wrong mode. Is this a not-HPE version? My guess is the console is in Extended profile, the fixture in standard or 16b. You can change the mode your light is in via patch, or change the mode on the fixture to extended.
