What is the syntax to remove two channels from group?

I have a group containing channels 161>190.  I type -180 -190.  It only removes channel 180, not 190.  If I reverse the order, it only removes 190, not 180.  It works if I make two separate commands.  It also works if I type 161 thru 190 -180 -190.
