  • What is the difference between a "relay out" (obvious, and I have used it) and "Contact closure". Does that mean an external momentary switch rigged to , say, the "S1" pins, will trigger something on the board? or is it an internal relay that will send 12V to a relay or other device? It just isn't clear to me. Like, can I use it to run a small wafer fan? what is the capacity?

  • There is one internal relay (with both normally-open and normally-closed terminals) on the back of your console.  This can be used for sending contact closure signals to other devices, or (with some wiring) for applying up to 1A at 30V power to an external source.  If your wafer fan draws less than this, you could use this relay to control that fan.

There also four contact closure inputs on the back of your console.  These are dry contact inputs, and you should never apply any voltage to them.  When you connect these terminals to ground, you can trigger many kinds of events in the Eos Show Control setup display.

With an I/O Gateway, you can add more relays and contact closures to your system.

The pinout diagram, and instructions for programming these inputs and outputs are in the link that Josh posted.

  • If that's not enough power the new CSR-D makes a nice hardwired DMX 20A relay.
