Altman Phoenix RGBA

Which fixture mode are you patched as in the Element? Which mode is set that the fixture?

I have it patched as Altman Phoenix LED Profile RGBA 8B MS. Which "mode" are you referring to?

The 8B MS is a mode.  This is something that can be set at the fixture that changes the layout of the DMX channels it is looking for.    In this case the MS is important, as it denotes a "master channel" and "smoothing" mode has been enabled- and if the setting is not the same at the fixture it would create odd control.  

Per the fixture manual :   if you are patched as MS then Master channel should be ON at the fixture and so should Smoothing.  

Are these on at the fixture?

That's what i thought. Yes I just confirmed that mastering and Smoothing are both "on"

Sorry for my delay in response.

If we do individual address control do you get the same result?  What about if the fixture is connected directly to the console and is the only item being controlled?  Same issue?

What do you mean by individual control? Each fixture is Independence of each other- different DMX addresses.

I can try going directly to the console but I will need to run some cable!

Excellent. I meant if you brought it up via each individual DMX address instead of using the channel.

So I ran a dmx cable from the Element to the lights and through a number of trips back and forth turning the board on and off and tracing cables on the electric I found no problem, except for the Phoenix's bumping to 100% when the board is turned on. I was able to address individual channels, well color plus master, and the fixture responded.

Next thought?

It's very interesting, since the fixture itself has a master intensity, and we are homing that channel to 0, I would not expect the channel to turn on when the board turns on unless it were controlled by a sub or cue. I will continue to look into this.

I specifically went to Q0 before I turned the board off to insure there wasn't a legacy Q that the board was sending out.
