Eos Nomad Mac - Failed Save

As of lately, the save function is failing on my Nomad Mac installation. I can save files fine using the Save As function (even into the ShowFile directory itself), however the save function or a save initiated by a master console on the network results in an error message stating that it failed to save to persistent storage.

I have tried deleting the ShowArchive directory, and have checked directory permissions (drwxr-xr-x) with no luck.

  • Hi there,

Very interesting. I wonder if the path that is being requested when the Save occurs is something that the Mac can't do. (Folder doesn't exist/invalid path/etc...)

What software version are you running? Could you try updating and see if it continues in 2.3.2?

A few other options going forward:
    1. Can you try to save again and look in Diagnostics? ([Tab] + [9][9]) What is the path that it is trying to save? Does that path exist?
    2. Alternately, can you try this and then save logs, noting the date/time when this happened? Send the logs to hh <at> etcconnect <dot> com, mentioning this forum post.

    Thanks!
  • According to the text in the browser, the path it wants to save to is "/Users/<username>/Documents/ShowArchive/<filename>…"

In the diagnostics log it shows the same path: Saving Show: "/Users/<username>/Documents/ShowArchive/<showname>.esf"

That is the ShowArchive folder I tried recreating initially.

This is the last few lines of the diagnostics:

  • Thanks. What version of OS X are you running? (And Eos version? :) )

In the shell (Exit -> Settings), what is your showfile archive set up as?

I think the logs will be very interesting - could you save those and send them in as well?

Is your user the owner of the ShowArchive folder? (I would think so since the Save As... works just fine - you can Save As into the ShowArchive, right?).
  • Yes, a Save As works fine, it's just the save function (and the associated [Shift]+[Update] quicksave) that doesn't.

I am running Eos 2.3.1.9.0.12 on a Mac with OS 10.10.3. (Meaning to upgrade the OS next time I have downtime.)

The showfile archive path is the same as listed above "/Users/<username>/Documents/ShowArchive". <username> is my user.

I have run a test save with a brand new showfile, however I would like to confirm the location of the logs so I can pull them?
