Are there any recommended brands or models of access points for use with ION desks?

Hi. Our access point is dying and before purchasing a replacement I thought i'd ask to see if anyone had any ideas regarding particular brands models or specifications that I should look out for when in use with an ION desk? Many Thanks

  • There's not a big difference in price between routers and access points these days, and there are more options available in the router market.  I'd probably buy a router today and disable it's routing features.

I have an Apple Airport Express and an Airport Extreme that I use on different projects.  They're both solid and relatively easy to configure.

This router gets great reviews for range, and for $60, it's hard to go wrong.  If I was buying a router, I'd probably buy this one:

I can't really justify the newer, more expensive AC routers for an Eos access point.  a 5Ghz network is plenty fast.  Depending on the radio frequency interference, you may actually get better range with a 2.4Ghz network.  All worth trying.
