We're teching a show right now and my Lighting Designer is having trouble seeing some of the text on the screen due to it being a dark purple color. When will we get a way to change the default colors on the screens? My eyes are pretty darn good and I have trouble seeing the purple as well - it's fuzzy and I can't tell the difference between 30 and 50 from more than 2 feet away. Is this feature in 1.4 already and we just haven't had time to look for it? We upgraded right before tech and a manual would be handy.
Have you tried playing with the Brightnes/Contrast settings on the monitor itself? I have seen cases where the displays were all but unreadable until some adjustments were made.
We did have some complaints a while back about the visibility of the tracked values. We had dimmed the intensity of the magenta because we didn't want the visual noise to detract from the more important moving values.
But we had users that felt we took too much away from the magenta intensity, so we added a brighter magenta color to the high contrast option in Desk Settings.
As far the the magenta color in general, this has been the traditional color for tracked values on Obsession, and while we had user interface "experts" who told us to get rid of that color and use a very dark (and less visible) gray instead, we decided to stick with the magenta.
With all the being said, we have considered putting "skins" on the graphical user interface, and we may still consider doing that at some point if the time ever presents itself...but right now there are a number of other important features that we need to get in before that would happen.
I am the LD that is having trouble seeing the tracked levels in dull purple. I really CANNOT read the levels quickly and easily. I have resorted to asking the board operator "what level 27 is at". I thought those days had passed us by in the 1980's!!! The tracked levels need to be quickly and easily readable. I agree that the changed levels should be brighter than the tracked, but there is too much difference between them.
Hi there. Provided the monitors are properly tweaked, if you set the desk to High Contrast Mode in setup, you'll see magenta at very similar values you can see it on Obsession. There is increased variability in high-res monitors, but it shouldn't be far off (in high contrast mode).
