Vision ESP 2017 and EOS Nomad

Hi,

In Nomad there's an option called Offline with Viz. That will give you output but occasionally flashes everything to full. That means it's no good for a performance obviously, but if you can bear that you can use it without a dongle for visualisation.

All you need to connect the two devices together is a network cable, no need for a switch. Most modern PCs also have auto-switching network interfaces cards which means you don't even need to use a crossover cable, a straight forward patch lead will do.

Give each machine an IP address/subnet mask or let them self assign and you'll good to go. It's always good to turn off WiFi as well which helps Nomad chose the right adapter to transmit data.

It's actually easier to use the software without a dongle. You'd then get the "Offline w/visualiser" button in the start up shell. You can connect over the network (wifi or wired), but I am not sure how multiple consoles would work with one visualiser. You can select sACN or Artnet as the data format. Simply select the universe you want ESP Vision to listen to.

I'm trying to use EOS offline to program ESP Vision on my Macbook Pro Retina, mid 2014. Cna this be done or do I have to use EOS offline on my old laptop PC with a network cable and adaptor. If so what am I buying in the way of a cable/adaptor? Thanks in advance.

I might be wrong but you should be able to connect them both through a network switch.

Running both on the same machine depends on it's power and how big the rig. Fades and movers can get jumpy if it's too slow. Regardless you run out of screen space very quickly! Just Eos on one screen is pretty tight.

Yes, any network connection should work. Being connected can also be important even if you are doing both on one machine. It allows 'out & back' between programs as if they were on separate machines.

Sounds like both Patrick and Rick are talking about a connection that requires some sort of a loopback cable. Or is there a way to make a network connection between the two programs internally?

An internal connection depends on the computer involved. I don't have much info on which do and which do not allow it.
No loop-back cables are needed for an external connection. A network switch will simply send the data back to the PC as if it was some other PC. So, if you're on a laptop at Starbucks all you need is to connect to the WiFi.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have succeeded in connecting my EOS Offline program to my Vision 4 program internally on my Mac. I set the IO address for the EOS as suggested in an online post by Vision and all seems to be going well. No loopback cable required.

Can you provide what the IP address was or a link to the post you mention?
