Vision ESP 2017 and EOS Nomad

Good Morning All,

I am making the jump into the Pre-Viz world with Vision ESP 2017.  I am creating a pre-viz suite with a windows computer to "house" Vision with my (or a students) laptop containing Nomad.  Couple of questions:

  • When working in this scenario, is a dongle needed for Nomad?  I have one, but if it is not needed for this application, all the better.
  • How do I connect the two systems together?  I would assume a network switch.
  • I'm hoping that there is someone out there already doing what I'd like to do  and is willing to share their experiences.
  • FYI...all of the modeling is done in VW2017.  Interesting note.  All of the new VW 2017 lighting symbols are "Vision Ready".  Kudos Vectorworks!

Anyhoo... That's where I'm at.  Thought?!

  • Hi,

In Nomad there's an option called Offline with Viz. That will give you output but occasionally flashes everything to full. That means it's no good for a performance obviously, but if you can bear that you can use it without a dongle for visualisation.

All you need to connect the two devices together is a network cable, no need for a switch. Most modern PCs also have auto-switching network interfaces cards which means you don't even need to use a crossover cable, a straight forward patch lead will do.

Give each machine an IP address/subnet mask or let them self assign and you'll good to go. It's always good to turn off WiFi as well which helps Nomad chose the right adapter to transmit data.

    Hope that's a help.
