v1.4.1 bugs/queries and other suggestions

Hi there - just a few things I've noticed with v1.4.1

-Highlight: Seems to not work correctly if you type [clr enter] while chans are selected.  Doesn't seem to adversely effect highlight operation if you type [clr enter] with no chans selected

-Rem-Dim: I sometimes use this to go thru chans 1 by 1 to adjust positions of moving lights, however as soon as you press [next] to go to the next channel, and adjustments just made are lost and the fixture returns to the data recorded in the pallet/preset.  Creature or feature?

-Direct Selects on ION: I often open these in the CIA, however as soon as I press [displays] to access the param selection, I then have to re-open the direct select module from the browser.  It would be really nice if there was a way to be able to access the D/S more quickly, or have them repost to the CIA......  I have thought about placing the D/S above the chan info, however my touchscreen and 2nd monitor are of different resolutions and so as a result, if I press [swap] one screen is displaying a whole lot of blank space, and the other screen doesn't fit the whole display

-Update: I recalled a fixture from a particular cue, and then made some adjustments and went to update these changes into a preset.  The preset already contained focus info, but not iris and edge.  At this point the iris, edge, and focus data was all manual (red).  [update preset # enter] only stored the focus data and not the edge or iris info.  Work around was to make the data absolute and then update the preset.  Should I have expected this behavior?  The iris and edge info were previously stored in beam pallets, however once recalling them and then making manual changes I would have expected that an [update preset] command would have captured the manual info

-I have a bunch of HighEnd Studio Spot 575 CMY fixtures and noticed the recent addition of Iris Mode parameter.  I added a value to the Home Preset for this parameter, however if I send the fixture home, the Iris Mode doesn't go to it's home value.

-One suggestion: When updating presets and pallets, I usually place the lamps in the preset I wish to update, make my changes, and then update the preset/pallet.  What I find at the moment is that I have to enter the preset/pallet number, make the changes, and then enter the number again when entering the update command.  Would it be possible to be able to just type [update preset enter] and have the console automatically post the number to the command line by using the last target that was selected.  At present if I try the [update preset] syntax it will post the last target I updated, not the last one that was recalled from.  I have recently started using the direct selects and this does make it a bit easier, but see point above for why this can be a bit frustrating

I'm sure you are probably aware of some of these points already, but I have listed them anyway just incase.  Keep up the great work - I'm loving the new software

Cheers

Hi there - just a few things I've noticed with v1.4.1

-Highlight: Seems to not work correctly if you type [clr enter] while chans are selected.  Doesn't seem to adversely effect highlight operation if you type [clr enter] with no chans selected.  WILL LOOK INTO THIS.  SORRY NO DESK AT THE MOMENT.

YEP, AT THE MOMENT, REM DIM IS JUST  A TOGGLE STATE.  YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY MAKE CHANGES TO VALUES AND THEN REVERSE THE REM DIM MODE.  WE'VE DISCUSSED CHANGING THIS, BUT WERE HOLDING OFF UNTIL WE COULD EVALUATE HOW HIGHLIGHT/LOWLIGHT MIGHT IMPACT HOW PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO USE REM DIM.

-Direct Selects on ION: I often open these in the CIA, however as soon as I press [displays] to access the param selection, I then have to re-open the direct select module from the browser.  It would be really nice if there was a way to be able to access the D/S more quickly, or have them repost to the CIA......  I have thought about placing the D/S above the chan info, however my touchscreen and 2nd monitor are of different resolutions and so as a result, if I press [swap] one screen is displaying a whole lot of blank space, and the other screen doesn't fit the whole display  IN WORK.  LOOKING TO LOCK ANYTHING POSTED IN THE CIA, SO THAT IF YOU DO SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE POSTED TO THE CIA, WHAT YOU HAD BEFORE COMES BACK WHEN YOU CLEAR THAT STATE.

The iris and edge info were previously stored in beam pallets, however once recalling them and then making manual changes I would have expected that an [update preset] command would have captured the manual info  YEP.  WE CHANGED THE CODE IN 1.3 SO THAT UPDATE WOULD NOT ADD ANYTHING TO A REFERENCE UNLESS SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED.  THAT WAY, YOU COULD HAVE A BUNCH OF MANUAL STUFF ON STAGE AND NOT WORRY ABOUT GETTING UPDATE INTO A SINGLE REFERENCE BY MISTAKE. SO, IF YOU WANT TO ADD IRIS, EDGE AND FOCUS, YOU HAVE TO SPECIFY THAT.  [IRIS, EDGE FOCUS UPDATE TARGET]

-I have a bunch of HighEnd Studio Spot 575 CMY fixtures and noticed the recent addition of Iris Mode parameter.  I added a value to the Home Preset for this parameter, however if I send the fixture home, the Iris Mode doesn't go to it's home value.  WERE YOU USING HOME FROM THE ENCODERS?  THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS, WHICH WILL BE ADDRESSED SHORTLY.  THE HARDKEY HOME SHOULD HAVE WORKED PROPERLY (TAKE TO THE HOME PRESET VALUE).

I have recently started using the direct selects and this does make it a bit easier, but see point above for why this can be a bit frustrating.  YES.  WE NEED TO ADD A FUNCTION THAT WE CALL "UPDATE LAST MANUAL REFERENCE."  THIS WILL WORK FOR CUES AND MAKE THE UPDATE THAT YOU WANT ABOVE POSSIBLE.

I'm sure you are probably aware of some of these points already, but I have listed them anyway just incase.  Keep up the great work - I'm loving the new software  THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR THE INPUT.  SORRY ABOUT THE ALL CAPS. ANNE.

    Cheers

Hi Anne - Thanks for the reply.  In reply to your reply....

That makes sense.  FYI - I prefer to use highlight.  Ended up trying rem-dim due to the glitches mentioned before in hightlight.

IN WORK.  LOOKING TO LOCK ANYTHING POSTED IN THE CIA, SO THAT IF YOU DO SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE POSTED TO THE CIA, WHAT YOU HAD BEFORE COMES BACK WHEN YOU CLEAR THAT STATE.  Smashing!

YEP. [IRIS, EDGE FOCUS UPDATE TARGET] Makes sense - thanks for the clarification

YES.  WE NEED TO ADD A FUNCTION THAT WE CALL "UPDATE LAST MANUAL REFERENCE."  THIS WILL WORK FOR CUES AND MAKE THE UPDATE THAT YOU WANT ABOVE POSSIBLE. Fantastic

Thank-you very much for the speedy response!!

    Cheers
