you do it the other way round. instead of copying from your current showfile to a target showfile, you merge from a source showfile to your current showfile.
so with your target showfile loaded you go to the CIA, File > Merge, choose the source showfile, press Enter and from the following dialogue you choose Sub. if you want to be more precise and only pull a certain range of subs you can use the Advanced button.
Merge actions are not undo-able so you should Shift-Update before merging.
