Ion: Recording submaster rate effects into cue stack

I'm on an ETC Ion, and i've got a chase effect in a submaster where the sub controls the RATE of the chase. I'm trying to use this as a tool to program varying rates into different cues in my cue stack so that I don't have to create several separate chase effects for each tempo that I need. I've successfully made the effect into the sub, but I can't get it to record into a cue.

Thoughts on this? Is it possible? I don't want the board op to have to press any buttons except "GO"

Thanks in advance!

  • From the 2.4.0 supplement:
"Effect Rate - fader centers to home. It controls the rate of any running effects (same behavior as
using rate via the Effect Status Display). The adjusted setting from this control cannot be stored."

You can control the speed of an effect by changing its cycle time but the cycle time value is referenced in each recorded instance of the effect.

Looks like the easiest way might be to create multiple copies of the effect and vary the cycle time .
