"Improperly shut down" error message.

We are occasionally getting this error message on startup:

Warning

This device was improperly shut down on its last use, which can corrupt your system.  Please use proper shutdown procedures - by powering off via the browser from the application or the shutdown command from the welcome screen.  Contact ETC technical services if this message is displayed after a correct shutdown.

This is an XP based Element (2014), running the 2.6.4 software.  We normally use the power button to shut down, two presses with a space between for the "Are you sure?" to pop up.  This has only happened three or four times in the last six months, and with different software versions.  I haven't tried a deep clear but I get one of those with each software install automatically (according to the manual) and I've updated the software a couple of times since this started.

We are pretty sure we are consistent in our shut down procedure.  Any thoughts?

  • No, we never cut the power to the console unless we are moving it out to the auditorium floor for a cuing and levels session. We don't even turn off the power switch on the back, just power down with the button on the face panel. If it keep up I'll get a UPS (always a good idea anyway), but we've had this board for 4 years without a UPS and it only started doing this occasionally in the last few months.
