How do you apply custom colors to effects?

One of the best things about the Eos family is that there are many routes to the look you want. Getting non-gel or 'standard' color values is one of the easiest, but with many details.

At the core it's about setting different levels for each of the color parameters that any fixture has. Whether that's RGB, CMY, WW/CW, or ROAYCBI. So in live select a channel and look at it's detailed parameters (table format, or activate the ML tools.) There you can see and change the Red value, or whatever.

The simplest method is probably to open the color picker tab. There are several 'color spaces' but generally you can poke the screen and get THAT color. Take a look at the gear icon for that tab (and the manual) to pick the color graphic that make you happiest.

"Pulsing" sounds like an effect to me. Create 2 color palettes. Then in effects create a new one. Here is a view of one of my basic color effects that can be dropped to 2 'actions' to give you a pulse.

I record palettes but when I try to apply them to channels in live it does nothing, the channels just stay at their original state. Also I can’t find where to look at the palettes to see what they are set at or what their organization is.

I did find the color palettes but it doesn’t tell me anything about them. Shouldn’t I be able to see what color is set in each one? Why are they not applying to channels when I tell them to?

Did you try the Colour Palettes tab?
From there, you can see in Blind the values of each Palette.

i often find the color palette tab is a detour. just head to Blind, type ColorPalette Enter. now with Next/Last you can step through your color palettes. with Format set to Spreadsheet you can see the whole list just like you can in the color palette tab.

One thing that might not be obvious if you are new to this,  is you have to select the channels that you want the pallet to apply to, its not like a kind of static look which you just apply and all the channels in it go to what is recorded,   Its a set of colours one for each fixture that you recorded (or for the type of fixture) than you can then apply to selected fixtures.

If you highlight one then in ther bottom right hand corner there is the softkey edit this will take you into a blind screen that list channels and what is recorded for them, To make the display easier to read put it in flexi active mode so it only shows the channels in the colour pallet (thats on the drop down key pad   Flexi (near bottom right) and Active (only appears after you press flexi, top right middle left).

Since you're new to Eos, it will probably be useful to look through the video tutorials. They are very thorough and informative, and are a great way to get familiar with the platform.
