Help with split cue timings.

I am currently trying to teach myself Element using the offline editor.

I am having a very hard time understanding why the timings don't seem to be working on my cue list.

Here's what I have.

I chose the appropriate channels in cmd line for all the house lights according to the plot.

I then Recorded them as Group 1 and labeled them "House"

Next, Group 1 @ Full - All the house lights came on at full.

I recorded this as Cue 1.

Now I type, Group 1 at 0 and all the house lights go off.

I record this as Cue 2. and label it "House Out"

I want the show to start with the house lights at full and then when I hit the GO button, I need them to fade out completely in a duration of 24 seconds.

There is a speech that starts the fade out and the house needs to be in sync with it. So when the speech is done, the house lights are out.

 

So I go CUE 1 TIME 5 TIME 24 ENTER

I can see in the CUE list that it changed the Int Up to 5 and the Int Down to 24.  I assume that this is what I want.

I go into LIVE and press GOTO CUE 1 Enter and the House fades up to full in 5 seconds.

However, when I hit the GO button, the house fades down to blackout in 5 seconds and not the Int Down time of 24 seconds.

 

Am I not understanding how Int Up and Down work.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cue times apply to how you fade *in* to the cue. Put another way, they tell the console how long the light levels contained in the cue should take to become active on stage. So, if you wanted the lights to fade out in the time of 24, you have the right idea, but you need to apply it to cue 2, where the lights actually fade down.

    The IntDown fade time of cue 2 is what your looking for.

    as an example:

    Cue 2: IntUp=5, IntDown=24

    think of this as transition. when transitioning from the previous cue into cue 2 the console will look at the two times listed with cue 2. so when going from 1 to 2, the console will apply the IntDown time listed with cue 2 to the levels that are too bright in cue 1.

    this might be confusing at first glance but believe me, it makes everything much simpler once you have wrapped your head around it. for example when you want to change how a transition looks you only have to edit the times of one cue and not go back and forth between the timing cells of two cues.
