first question: where did you look up? neither the current manual nor the respective youtube chapter are four years old...

Well I am sure there was something about four years ago, But what a way to answer a question! If you want to criticize or 'test' leave it out. I'll wait to see if I get a more polite answer.

seriously?! there is a video explaining step by step exactly what you want to do...

and telling ETC where there is this old info would help them eliminate it so the next person can find the right information easier...

Simple way of doing it could be

select effects tab

key in

1 enter

It will say Effect 1 Create Type

Click on Absolute

It then builds a simple effect for you. 

Click in the level column on the first row and press  Full and then Enter.

Switch back to live

Select some channels and key Effect 1 enter.

A simple chase will then happen. 

You can play with the  values in the TIme and Dwell columns on the effect on the two lines,  alter the rate, grouping etc.

You could put more steps in it, instead of simply setting and intensity you can use a preset or palette so you could control colour or position of moving heads
