Element 2 Fader LED's on first 10 Faders go dim.

We purchased an Element 2 over the summer but are only now moving into our season and starting to use it.

This has happened twice now, the LED's on the bump buttons under the first 10 Faders go dim.  The rest remain at normal brightness. The first time the board then locked up, requiring a reboot, the next time they went back to bright without any other symptoms.  I saved logs shortly after the first incident but haven't sent them in yet.

Has this happened to anyone else yet?

  • Press the "Upgrade I/O Firmware Button" above the Firmware Update section in the Maintenance tab. That device requires a different tool to update them which is accessed through that button.

  • Ok, I tried this on two different boards.  On an Element Classic the 'I/O Downloader' dialog box appears with a 'Status:' of 'Please Connect Console' and after a long pause, then things happen and I eventually get to choose from one of three different Firmware options.  So no problem there.

When I try it on the Element 2 the same 'I/O Downloader' dialog box appears with a 'Status:' of 'Please Connect Console', then nothing happens, no matter how long I wait?

So what am I dong wrong?

  • I think Matthew didn't see that you are trying this on an Element 2. This changed between classic to Element 2.

In the Maintenance tab, at the bottom, in the box where you see the firmware versions of the components, click the I/O card and then press the Update button below it

  • Following Ueli Riegg's explanation I tried updating the IO card in the Element 2 using the firmware update window by clicking on the I/O card and then pressing the Update button below it.  It appears there is no copy of version 1.1.1.9.0.5 on the console available as the console just reinstalls 1.1.0.9.0.4

When done the console powered down as required by the update.  On restart the firmware update window still shows "Gadget/IO Board (1.1.0.9.0.4)."

The console software is up to date. v2.7.4 build 12.

Looking at the Release Note for v2.7.4 the I/O Board Firmware for an Element 2 should be up to 1.1.1.9.0.5 now.  So what am I dong wrong?
