It seems like it should be possible for different micro versions of Nomad to communicate with each other in mirror mode. The situation I'm starting to see is there a numerous ETC consoles in the local area. They do not all run the same version of software. If you move from venue to venue as a designer and you want to use Nomad that means having multiple versions available on your system to match whatever version the board is running.

What I would like is for (at least) all micro versions of software to communicate with each other. For instance, if the console is running 2.7.4 I would like to be able run my laptop in mirror mode with 2.7.1.

I'm okay if 2.8 does not work with 2.7 although that would be a nice bonus in my opinion.

  • On your Nomad laptop, click on the Settings button on the opening window. In the General tab of the Shell, check the option for "Automatically Update Software" - this will pull the matching version of software from the console when you connect.

It may take a few minutes to run the installer, but you won't have to download a newer version from the ETC website.

I'm not sure if this is as clean a process if the console has an older version than your laptop. In that case, you may need to download the appropriate version from the website.
