Magic Sheet as scene B preset then execute?

I'm a new magic sheet user on my Element. After my first use, I began to wonder if I was using them properly. Here was my basic flow controlling several channels, some groups and a submaster using only fixed instruments:

  1. Select an object or set of objects
  2. Key or wheel a new intensity
  3. Sneak the change

That worked pretty well when busking an event, but I then wondered if I could make it function more like a scene preset -- adjusting objects to various levels then sneaking the whole setup like a scene or cue cross-fade. Is that possible??

I realize I could try to use intensity palettes, but I don't have time to plan those in advance. I'd rather sense the mood of an upcoming song, make adjustments, then execute.

Thanks!

  • I not sure what your asking but i think a solutions would be to use, buttons on your magic sheet for macro's presets and cues.

This way you can make buttons that 'go to cue x time x' or i you want to switch withing cue use pre made presets for intensity color etc.

    hope this helps

    regards,

  • It's probably not how people usually work when busking but if you wanted to do then you could do something like this.

Start with an empty cue and be on that cue ie cue 1

Have button on your magic sheet that runs a macro that just does

    blind cue next enter

Then setup your look in the magic sheet and it will be hopefully editing cue 2 rather than live.

When you are ready just hit Go  which will then play cue 2 live that you just edited (you could set the cue timings for the transition if you wanted)

You can then click your macro again and setup the next look in cue 3   (you could have a go macro which did the go and the blind cue next enter if you wanted).

This all has an interesting side effect that you could potentially go back to earlier looks as they would all be recorded in the cues.

For info a perhaps more normal busking approach is to stay live and have buttons for your groups and individual fixtures and buttons for colour  focus pallets/presets and sneak times  and intensity levels (ie @50 enter)

then just click  your 4 magic sheet buttons   group 1  group 2  sneak 3  Colour Pallet 1  or   Group 3 sneak 2 @50

You could actually combine this with the blind cue edit idea, you'd just not press the sneak button on the sheet if you were doing the edit of net empty cue.

  • I think your looking for a function that not available right now (there are some workarounds in this thread). But I think it's something that's ETC is planning for a future software update: if you go to a new special Live mode you can queue up manual changes. They will not happen on stage, they are just pre-registered. Only when you leave this special mode, all those different changes happen at the same time.

Is this what you are looking for?
