which direction do you want to go? element is the boss and qlab follows? oder the other way round?
Q Lab is the boss
you need a physical connection with MIDI. you could use a USB-MIDI thing, USB into the mac, the MIDI out port to Element MIDI in.
next step is to activate MSC in element: Setup>System>ShowControl>MSC Receive Enabled
then you need to make Qlab send MSC commands. and that's the point where i'm a bit more fuzzy. i think to make qlab send MSC you need to add MIDI Cues and in there specify which type of midi you want (MSC) and so on. but i could be wrong about this part
OK really appreciate taking your time to reply.
Have from Laptop(Mac) an Ethernet connection to midi box, then midi to Element.
MSC Receive Enabled
QLab commands eh I'm lost as to what I'm supposed to send
You must set the Device ID.
If i remember wright, QLab starts count with Zero, EOS starts with 1.
You can add for every Video Cue in QLab a Midi Cue and group them.
So both will start if you press GO at QLab.
For add a Midi-Cue you must click and hold this sign and slide it in Playlist.
Down you can choose the settings for this Midi send.
all from this page: https://figure53.com/docs/qlab/v4/control/midi-cues/
message type: Midi Show Control (MSC)
command format: general lighting (01)
command: Go (01)
device ID: all-call (7F or 127)
q number: whatever element cue you want to trigger
q list: leave empty
q path: leave empty
unfortunately the qlab MSC implementation is a bit more complicated than MSC intended. it should just be a think to switch on and not to add plenty of additional cues in qlab and then set up all those cues...
So I do these commands and nothing happens. what settings should the Element have?
Can Qlabs just read all the cues and know what to do?
on the Element side you can open the Diagnostic tab. keep the Tab button pressed, type 99 and release the Tab button. do you see the command listed when you fire the qlab midi cue?
if you see it listed in the diagnostic tab or not will tell you if it's a transmission problem or if element does receive the command but doesn't know what to do with it.
No, it's seeing nothing
I'm sorry I don't fully understand, I've tried to recreate your screenshot but with no success
Could it be that your Ethernet-Midi device is not getting anything?
