Patching multi parameter LEDS specifically K9 pups

Patching multi parameter LEDS

Here is my situation. I am working with K9 pups.

One is patched to channel 118 and has addresses 118 through 123

The second instrument is patched to channel 130 and is addressed 130 through 135.

This is normal. My issue is I can bring 118 up full, but if 124 is already at full it will flash, fade, change color, etc. Essentially the preprogrammable settings of the instrument.

Looking at the Pup manual, I see that the DMX values for the different instrument settings go from 0 to 255. I changed channel 130 to 316 (now addresses 316 through 321) and now the instruments work independently of each other.

Why? Why did they not work independently when addressed as 118 and 130. And are independent addressed at 118 and 316?

Thank you

  • Whilst if its the correct physical fixture and not as Ueli says a different model and if the addresses are as you say then it should have just worked.

However I suspect you've not got things quite as you think they are.

You've probably made it a bit confusing for yourself by trying to match up channel numbers with dmx addresses,  that's probably not best practice as you can then end up thinking they are the same when they are not.

In your post when you refer to 124 that might be the channel or the address and then you say changing 130 to a different address fixed it which logically it cant,  hence why it feels there is some confusion and all is not as it seems!

Ideally just setup the K9 pups as say channel 100, 101, 102 etc  and set their DMX addresses to say 200 206 212 and then see if it all works correctly.

Post a screen shot of the patch if it still misbehaves.
