ION Ecoder wheels and MAC 700's

I have rented 4 MAC 700 profiles for a production I am working on. We just got our ION last summer so I am still learning, but I have run into an issue. When I am in the image screen or even the focus screen for movers and try to use the function where you hold down the encoder and jump to next or mode, etc it will sometimes cause the 700's to go into what appears to be a pre-programmed effect and douse almost completely out. I then have to home the fixtures to get control back. Am I missing something?

  • You may be tripping over sending inadvertent magic settings to the fixture, a combination of DMX address and value that turn on macros, provide lamp control, and the like.

I am not familiar with the MAC700 but I know the MAC250 will do a fixture reset, lamp off, and some other weirdnesses when certain values are sent to certain channels particularly when playing with the shutter.

Check the Fixture Release Notes that ship with the offline client (C:\Program Files\ETC\Eos\Documentation\FixtureReleaseNotes.pdf) for clues about enabling/disabling DMX remote control of fixture settings.

Also check the user manual for the fixture (http://martin.com) to understand the DMX map.
