Custom Fixture - PT Speed

I have no experience using MPDs but now have an inexpensive U'King Moving Head to start my education. It isn't in the fixture I'm creating one. Watching video etc. all going well with Pan and Tilt (16 bit) done. Then I come to "PT Speed". I've entered a new "Intense" but can't find a PT Speed when I right click. Thought perhaps I could use intense as it is a 0-255 control but can't find out how to relabel the "Intense" to "PT Speed". How should I tackle this.

Anyone in FL that does this stuff on regular basis who would allow me to visit and see such first hand would be appreciated.

  • It's really about finding a parameter in the list and choosing one that has a name that lets you remember what it does.

In Eos fixture personalities are "normalized". So to make sure different fixtures can be handled simultaneously and in a similar manner, ETC doesn't always use the exact parameter name the manufacturer proposes.

PTspeed would usually be Position MSpeed in Eos. But for most parameters it doesn't matter, it's all about what will help you remember (and finding a parameter name that belongs to the correct encoder category).

  • Ok, I get the idea an am using "Pan MS Speed" 0 > 100. I notice the 0 > 100 (% ?) in the ranges column. How do I change that to absolute DMX values?

Next up is one of those DMX addresses that has multiple part e.g. 0 <> 009 is white, 010 <> 019 is red and so on.

Do I enter each in a separate row with a label (like "White") and then set its "Ranges"   0 > 090 and so on?
