Element 2 patching LED fixture

ETC's convention of noting buttons to press: [hard keys, i.e. actual buttons] {softkeys, i.e. somewhere on screen}

(i chose 301 thru 312 but you should number them with channel numbers you can easily remember)

this will show you a selection of different fixtures and modes. there are two colorsource par models, the "regular" and the DeepBlue (DB), they're labeled at the back). and each of those had different modes. i suggest using Direct mode. so click that

so now you told your console which channel numbers you wanna use and which manufacturere, model and mode those fixtures are.

now for the address: [At] [2] [/] [1] [Enter]
this will use the first address in second universe for the first of the twelve CS pars. it needs 6 addresses, so the next one will have address 7. the console does that for you.

now you need to go to your fixtures (in real life, go to the fixtures and use the menu at the back) and set them to the same mode and the respective addresses.

pick your channel numbers for CS Pars (101 thru xxx Enter

Type button on screen, find the Manufacture (ETC) and then the coloursource Par.  click on it to change all the channels to that type.

hit @ on the keyboard (command line will read 101 through xxx @)

type 2/1.  2 is the second universe on the console,  1 is the address (to be) programmed on the first unit.  the console is smart enough to populate the remaining channels/units with the addresses.  take that address list and go back and program all the leds with those addresses.

Make sure that the 2nd DMX port on the Element is programed to send Universe 2 (DMX 513 - 1024).

Make sure there is a wire between that port and the location of the LEDs.

So if my power is connected to say 52 on the grid .. i would patch patch 52 first then address .  Thanks for help

if the lamp power is from dimmer/non-dim 52, yes.  give D52 a channel, and then [PARK] that channel ON so it always supplies power. (that's 1/52 in the console, same as your conventionals).

then program the lamp as 1, 7, 13,  . . . . (as per Ueliriegg above)

then program the console with your choice of channels @ 2/1, 2/7, 2/13 etc. (second universe).

wait. you're adding one level of complexity. which is completely solvable, but needs to be considered

the whole patch thing i posted is to control the fixtures. not how to get power to them. those two things are (at least at the beginning) completely unrelated. if they are plugged to an outlet at the ceiling that is controlled by 52, that's good to know, but does not influence in any shape or form which DMX address your pars will get.

most importantly: do NOT plug your LEDs into an outlet that is a dimmer. unless that is one of the rare types of dimmers (e.g. ETC ThruPower modules) that are made for this (but need to be configured!). even if you have a regular dimmer at 100% it can fry your LEDs' electronics. you need a real hot power, either from a switchable outlet, from a dimmer/relay or directly from your distro.
