Importing ASCII Softpatch - Ion

I am wondering what the proper procedure is for importing just a softpatch. The current documentation says that import Lightwright supports either .txt or .asc. I am used to exporting to .asc as that is how I do it with Expression. When I go to look for the .asc file on my usb drive (in the root directory), it does not show up. I can import the patch as an entire show with the .asc, but I don't want it to overwrite the show, just the patch. The documentation talks about an advanced option when importing, but I think that is from previous versions. The only workaround I can see right now, is importing the patch, then re-opening the show with everything but the patch. Am I missing something?

  • I guess all your answers bring up another puzzle for me. What is the import Lightwright function for? Are people exporting other types of information from Lightwright besides a softpatch? It makes sense to me that the intention of import Lightwright is to just import a softpatch, but like a said before, it doesnt see a file with a .asc file association.

  • Unfortunaty at present it's all or nothing with importing patch from .esf files

Regarding lightwright files, I thought that if you enter other info into LW such as patch and ckt info, position, etc it would populate the notes field.  i think there's a post somewhere from ages ago that covers this topic, or maybe one of the lovely etc folk can chime in here with some more accurate info

    Hope that helps.  Cheers. BFJ
