Element Triggering Nomad

If I missed this in searches I apologize.

I'm interested doing some pixel mapping with dmx tape in near future, but I've been hesitant due to Element address/channel restrictions at the venue I work in most often. I have the nomad dongle & gateway and was wondering if could use this setup to bypass the restrictions. Ultimately my plan would be to control the tape using the nomad set up in a cue list. The remainder of the rig would go through the Element as usual with cue triggers being sent to the nomad through the Element operator. I assume I could use two operators if I really was in a jam, but having them linked to trigger would be far easier if crew was limited. Hopefully this all makes sense.

Would this help me get around the address & channel restrictions? Is there a better way, or better piece of equipment, to accomplish this? This is all hypothetical currently so I'm afraid I don't have specific part numbers or requirements. I'm trying to work it out from control & stay within those limitations.

Thanks in advance.

  • You use the consoles separately with the limitations for each console. You can't combine the parameter count!
If your Element have an address count for 1k parameters you can use them for the stage lighting and if your Nomad have also an address count of 1k or maybe 6k you use them only for pixel mapping. The trick is to link the consoles. You use the DMX outputs of the console also separately.
